SPIRIT-fed mind

2 Corinthians 1:21-22

King James Version

21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ,

and hath anointed us, is God;

22 Who hath also sealed us,

and given the earnest of the Spirit

in our hearts.

What happens when we have the SPIRIT of GOD in us?

What happens when His SPIRIT departs from us?

We talk of the living, for this post.

And here's a perfect example:

GOD tells His prophet, Samuel:

1 Samuel 16:1

King James Version

16 And the Lord said unto Samuel,

How long wilt thou mourn for Saul,

seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel?

fill thine horn with oil, and go,

I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite

for I have provided me a king among his sons.

Jesse's seven sons pass before Samuel.

1 Samuel 16:10

King James Version

10 Again, Jesse made seven of his sons

to pass before Samuel.

And Samuel said unto Jesse,

The Lord hath not chosen these.

It so happens, there is the eight son.

1 Samuel 16:11

King James Version

11 And Samuel said unto Jesse,

Are here all thy children?

And he said,

There remaineth yet the youngest,

and, behold, he keepeth the sheep.

And Samuel said unto Jesse,

Send and fetch him:

for we will not sit down

till he come hither.

GOD chooses this one.

1 Samuel 16:12

King James Version

12 And he sent,

and brought him in.

Now he was ruddy,

and withal of a beautiful countenance,

and goodly to look to.

And the Lord said,

Arise, anoint him:

for this is he.

The SPIRIT of the LORD comes upon young David.

1 Samuel 16:13

King James Version

13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil,

and anointed him in the midst of his brethren:

and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David

from that day forward.

So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

But GOD's SPIRIT leaves Saul.

1 Samuel 16:14

King James Version

14 But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul,

and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him.

Saul's servants observe his troubled state.

1 Samuel 16:15

King James Version

15 And Saul's servants said unto him,

Behold now,

an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.

They offer a solution.

1 Samuel 16:16

King James Version

16 Let our lord now command thy servants,

which are before thee,

to seek out a man,

who is a cunning player on an harp:

and it shall come to pass,

when the evil spirit from God is upon thee,

that he shall play with his hand,

and thou shalt be well.

Saul agrees.

1 Samuel 16:17

King James Version

17 And Saul said unto his servants,

Provide me now a man that can play well,

and bring him to me.

The servants remember Jesse's son.

1 Samuel 16:18

King James Version

18 Then answered one of the servants,

and said, Behold,

I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite,

that is cunning in playing,

and a mighty valiant man,

and a man of war,

and prudent in matters,

and a comely person,

and the Lord is with him.

They were referring to David.

1 Samuel 16:19

King James Version

19 Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse,

and said,

Send me David thy son,

which is with the sheep.

Jesse sends his son off, with blessings.

1 Samuel 16:20

King James Version

20 And Jesse took an ass laden with bread,

and a bottle of wine, and a kid,

and sent them by David his son unto Saul.

David finds favor with the king.

1 Samuel 16:21-22

King James Version

21 And David came to Saul,

and stood before him:

and he loved him greatly;

and he became his armourbearer.

22 And Saul sent to Jesse, saying,

Let David, I pray thee,

stand before me;

for he hath found favour in my sight.

David's effect upon Saul?

1 Samuel 16:23

King James Version

23 And it came to pass,

when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul,

that David took an harp, and played with his hand:

so Saul was refreshed, and was well,

and the evil spirit departed from him.

Is it any wonder David has such an effect?

He was chosen by GOD to be great king of Israel.

By that, He gave David His SPIRIT, too.

Now you see GOD's POWER.

Everything serves the LORD's purpose.

May we all be worthy of the LORD.

May we all have His SPIRIT in us.

The PURE mind

Matthew 5:8

King James Version

8 Blessed are the pure in heart:

for they shall see God.

How would you define a pure mind?

Do you have one?

Do you know of one?

Babies are pure, for they know nothing yet.

Except needing comfort from hunger, pain, or discomfort.

As they grow up, they absorb their surroundings.

They absorb what parents, and others, teach them.

In school, they absorb, or have to absorb, what is taught them.

At work, they are taught the ways of the world.

It would be so wonderful if everyone had the MIND of CHRIST.

Then, you can be sure we will all remain undefiled.

Through CHRIST, our minds will be free of these:

Lustful thoughts, lustful desires, covetousness.

The kind that propagates idolatry.

The kind that dishonors GOD.

The kind that corrupts us.

But what is pure?

What is holy?

What is undefiled?

We turn to Scripture:

Psalm 119:1

King James Version

119 Blessed are the undefiled in the way,

who walk in the law of the Lord.

Hebrews 7:26

King James Version

26 For such an high priest became us,

who is holy, harmless, undefiled,

separate from sinners,

and made higher than the heavens;

Hebrews 13:4

King James Version

4 Marriage is honourable in all,

and the bed undefiled:

but whoremongers and adulterers

God will judge.

James 1:26-27

King James Version

26 If any man among you seem to be religious,

and bridleth not his tongue,

but deceiveth his own heart,

this man's religion is vain.

27 Pure religion and undefiled before God

and the Father is this,

To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction,

and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

1 Peter 1:3-4

King James Version

3 Blessed be the God and Father

of our Lord Jesus Christ,

which according to his abundant mercy

hath begotten us again unto a lively hope

by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 To an inheritance incorruptible,

and undefiled,

and that fadeth not away,

reserved in heaven for you,

1 Peter 1:15-16

King James Version

15 But as he which hath called you is holy,

so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

16 Because it is written,

Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Who can teach us to be holy?

How do we go about that?

Only by being born again.

From which GOD's SPIRIT will teach us.

Everything about the LORD JESUS.

Who taught us by example.

1 Peter 2:21

King James Version

21 For even hereunto were ye called:

because Christ also suffered for us,

leaving us an example,

that ye should follow his steps:

And here's His example:

Matthew 22:37-40

King James Version

37 Jesus said unto him,

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,

and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it,

Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments

hang all the law and the prophets.

1 John 4:10

King James Version

10 Herein is love,

not that we loved God,

but that he loved us,

and sent his Son

to be the propitiation

for our sins.

1 Peter 1:18-19

King James Version

18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed

with corruptible things, as silver and gold,

from your vain conversation received

by tradition from your fathers;

19 But with the precious blood of Christ,

as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

1 Peter 2:22

King James Version

22 Who did no sin,

neither was guile found in his mouth:

1 Peter 2:23-24

King James Version

23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again;

when he suffered, he threatened not;

but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

24 Who his own self bare our sins

in his own body on the tree, that we,

being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:

by whose stripes ye were healed.

1 John 3:3

King James Version

3 And every man that hath this hope in him

purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

1 John 3:5

King James Version

5 And ye know that he was manifested

to take away our sins;

and in him is no sin.

JESUS gave up His life, that we may live.

It is fitting we follow His example.

Of loving GOD, and each other.

Of being obedient to His commandments.

That we may all live, think, and act right.

In a way that pleases the LORD.

The CHILDLIKE mind

JESUS tells us:

Matthew 18:3

King James Version

3 And said,

Verily I say unto you,

Except ye be converted,

and become as little children,

ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

There is always a kid, in an adult.

That is, if that wasn't wiped out.

We all have creativity, that's one.

We all tend to laugh, that's another.

We all have fun toys of some sort.

Or if we see a toy, it brings us back to our childhood.

Aroma of our favorite food, also brings back memories.

To the things we once loved.

To the people we loved.

To the people who loved us.

There is nothing forced about childhood.

When we see kids play, or laugh, it tickles us, too.

Unless we've lost all sense of fun, joy, and freedom.

Which once belonged to us when we were kids.

But we also know, and acknowledge another thing.

The fact that kids in other parts of the world have not had such liberty.

They are sold, trained as soldiers, put into labor, or made to marry early.

That's why I write all these blogs SPIRIT inspired me to do.

Because I want to protect the rights of children.

Which adults so easily ignore.

Forgetting they were once kids, too.

We need to be pure in heart again.

How to have a childlike heart, and mind?

Look to these verses:

Exodus 20:12

King James Version

12 Honour thy father and thy mother:

that thy days may be long upon the land

which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

Psalm 51:10-12

King James Version

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God;

and renew a right spirit within me.

11 Cast me not away from thy presence;

and take not thy holy spirit from me.

12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation;

and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Psalm 119:9-11

King James Version

9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way?

by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

10 With my whole heart have I sought thee:

O let me not wander from thy commandments.

11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart,

that I might not sin against thee.

Proverbs 3:5-6

King James Version

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;

and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him,

and he shall direct thy paths.

Matthew 5:5

King James Version

5 Blessed are the meek:

for they shall inherit the earth.

Matthew 5:8

King James Version

8 Blessed are the pure in heart:

for they shall see God.

Matthew 18:1-5

King James Version

18 At the same time came the disciples

unto Jesus, saying,

Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

2 And Jesus called a little child unto him,

and set him in the midst of them,

3 And said,

Verily I say unto you,

Except ye be converted, and become as little children,

ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself

as this little child, the same is greatest

in the kingdom of heaven.

5 And whoso shall receive

one such little child in my name

receiveth me.

John 3:3-8

King James Version

3 Jesus answered and said unto him,

Verily, verily, I say unto thee,

Except a man be born again,

he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4 Nicodemus saith unto him,

How can a man be born when he is old?

can he enter the second time

into his mother's womb,

and be born?

5 Jesus answered,

Verily, verily, I say unto thee,

Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit,

he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh;

and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

8 The wind bloweth where it listeth,

and thou hearest the sound thereof,

but canst not tell whence it cometh,

and whither it goeth:

so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Romans 13:11-14

King James Version

11 And that, knowing the time,

that now it is high time to awake out of sleep:

for now is our salvation

nearer than when we believed.

12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand:

let us therefore cast off the works of darkness,

and let us put on the armour of light.

13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day;

not in rioting and drunkenness,

not in chambering and wantonness,

not in strife and envying.

14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ,

and make not provision for the flesh,

to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Titus 2:11-13

King James Version

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation

hath appeared to all men,

12 Teaching us that,

denying ungodliness and worldly lusts,

we should live soberly, righteously, and godly,

in this present world;

13 Looking for that blessed hope,

and the glorious appearing of the great God

and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Hebrews 13:18

King James Version

18 Pray for us:

for we trust we have a good conscience,

in all things willing to live honestly.

Hebrews 13:20-21

King James Version

20 Now the God of peace,

that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus,

that great shepherd of the sheep,

through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

21 Make you perfect in every good work

to do his will,

working in you that which is wellpleasing

in his sight,

through Jesus Christ;

to whom be glory for ever and ever.

Amen.

1 John 1:9

King James Version

9 If we confess our sins,

he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,

and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 4:7-9

King James Version

7 Beloved, let us love one another:

for love is of God;

and every one that loveth is born of God,

and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God;

for God is love.

9 In this was manifested

the love of God toward us,

because that God sent

his only begotten Son into the world,

that we might live through him.

We must honor, and care, for every child on earth.

We must honor, and care, for every childlike heart in adults.

For herein, is the SOUND mind and the MIND of CHRIST.

JESUS warned those who offend children:

Matthew 18:6-7

King James Version

6 But whoso shall offend

one of these little ones which believe in me,

it were better for him that a millstone were hanged

about his neck, and that he were drowned

in the depth of the sea.

7 Woe unto the world because of offences!

for it must needs be that offences come;

but woe to that man

by whom the offence cometh!

There is no shame in being childlike.

Look at the blogs SPIRIT and I have created.

That we may encourage everyone to honor children.

And be childlike, according to Scripture, even if we are already adults.

MIND of Satan

JESUS tells the angel of the church in Pergamos:

Revelation 2:13

King James Version

13 I know thy works,

and where thou dwellest,

even where Satan's seat is:

and thou holdest fast my name,

and hast not denied my faith,

even in those days wherein Antipas was

my faithful martyr,

who was slain among you,

where Satan dwelleth.

From the previous post, we learned of the "mind of Christ".

How, in all humility, love, and perfect obedience, He served GOD.

Now, we look at the mind of Satan, CHRIST's enemy.

You will see a marked contrast:

Isaiah 14:12-14

King James Version

12 How art thou fallen from heaven,

O Lucifer, son of the morning!

how art thou cut down to the ground,

which didst weaken the nations!

13 For thou hast said in thine heart,

I will ascend into heaven,

I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:

I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation,

in the sides of the north:

14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;

I will be like the most High.

As a consequence:

Isaiah 14:15-18

King James Version

15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell,

to the sides of the pit.

16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee,

and consider thee, saying,

Is this the man that made the earth to tremble,

that did shake kingdoms;

17 That made the world as a wilderness,

and destroyed the cities thereof;

that opened not the house of his prisoners?

18 All the kings of the nations,

even all of them, lie in glory,

every one in his own house.

JESUS witnessed Satan's fall from heaven:

Luke 10:18

King James Version

18 And he said unto them,

I beheld Satan as lightning

fall from heaven.

Beware greed, pride, envy, and vanity.

Such are of Satan.

There is one kind of mind CHRIST commands us to have.

Turn to the next post.

MIND of CHRIST

1 Corinthians 2:16

King James Version

16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord,

that he may instruct him?

but we have the mind of Christ.

From the previous post, we got to know the ways of Satan.

And all the evil he wishes upon man.

Working night, and day, to corrupt our souls.

In sharp contrast, Scripture tells us of the "mind of Christ":

Philippians 2:5-8

King James Version

5 Let this mind be in you,

which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God,

thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation,

and took upon him the form of a servant,

and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man,

he humbled himself,

and became obedient unto death,

even the death of the cross.

Scripture gives us other verses that describe the mind of CHRIST:

John 5:30

King James Version

30 I can of mine own self do nothing:

as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just;

because I seek not mine own will,

but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

1 John 2:29

King James Version

29 If ye know that he is righteous,

ye know that every one that doeth righteousness

is born of him.

For His humility, love, and perfect obedience, JESUS receives this honor:

Philippians 2:9-11

King James Version

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him,

and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,

of things in heaven,

and things in earth,

and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess

that Jesus Christ is Lord,

to the glory of God the Father.

Now we've come to know the mind of CHRIST.

But there's also the enemy's mind.

And that's for the next post.
